I am thinking the French countryside.
I will be friends with the local winemaker who looks remarkably like Colin Firth. Despite my lack of French, the friendly delicatessen owner will always slip a little extra cheese in my string bag each week. I will cycle off home to the cottage (which is actually only nicknamed ‘The Cottage’ as it is HUGE, with wrap around floor to ceiling windows with sea views). My delightful children will meet me at the door, and instead of demands for Kinder Surprises, they will pepper me with exciting tales about how the Nanny entertained and challenged them that morning. All too soon, they will excitedly excuse themselves for their violin class.
Off I will breeze into my white and light filled conservatory, top up the vase hosting the roses from my award winning garden (all the while secretly wondering how the cleaner failed to do so) and charge up my laptop. I will run my fingers across the neatly filed binders and sit at my perfectly clean and clear desk.
I will be joined shortly by my relaxed and lycra clad, smiling husband who has just returned from a long cycle. He will come bearing a hot chocolate and a parcel in the post addressed to me from some recent online shopping.
A quick kiss and he will leave me in silence to write. The words will spill effortlessly across the screen as I diligently work to meet the early deadline with my agent for my 4th bestselling novel….
Bugger.
My book writing dream is fast shattered by the Diva who has just discovered me typing furiously on my phone in the toilet in my suburban Melbourne home. (Yes; OK, YES, I do this!!! Just some alone time, to think in peace.) But there is a little part of this dream that is actually true (yes; I do eat too much cheese and wine, but it’s not that).
TODAY, ‘my’ book is being launched in the UK.
As in…the book that I have a chapter in, alongside 20 fabulous and talented writers (still pinching myself).
So here’s what you might like to do.
If you have a child, have been a child, know anyone soon to have a child, or know anyone that actually has a child, then THIS is absolutely the book for you.
Clickety click on this amazon link to buy it online (mine is being sent straight to my iPhone if you’re not a kindle kinda person). Or hold out for a bit and I will share the link to buy the actual hard copy.
Guess what everyone I know (even just a little) is receiving for their next birthday, Mother’s Day, thank you gift, any occasion really. If you give me wine, I may even just sign it!!!
Special thanks to El Tan, from Ms Awesome, Mother Extraordinaire, for inviting me to be a part of this project.
Little ol’ me, heh?!
Move over Liane Moriarty!!!!!
Now…back to Colin and that cheese…
