And so it is true.
What goes up, must come down…literally.
Who knew when Santa delivered the trampoline to our Melbourne home last year, that we would be heading to the NSW Coogee apartment/balcony lifestyle the following month? The move was fast and furious and the kids have rolled with the many changes; possibly better than myself. But that trampoline? It is mentioned on a daily basis.
It was time for me to make good on my promises of finding a trampolining centre and…well…tire them out. Perhaps I’m telling more mummy secrets, but a lot of my daily activities are based around this end goal. Sure; smile, laugh, spend time together, but what a fantastic bonus if they happen to feel exhausted. I sought out the closest trampoline centre. Sky Zone (Alexandria) were kind enough to allow us a complimentary visit to check it out.
I promise you the kids were truly shaking with excitement when I told them.
So here is what I need to tell you :
Was it clean and secure?
Absolutely. It was super easy to keep track of my kids; an achievement in itself. But truly, the area was well maintained, contained and at 10am on a weekday, it was relatively quiet. As Little Leapers (toddlers 5 and under), there were a number of areas that we were allowed admission to, and as a first time visitor, I must admit it was mildly confusing, despite having it explained at reception.
Was it age appropriate?
My kids loved it! The freedom of not one trampoline, but loads to choose from all at once was craziness in their wild little eyes. They hit it hard. Supervisors were super quick to ensure it was one child per tramp, so good to know that safety was paramount. Special mention to Erica, whom my daughter decided she loved more than me and kind of stuck to for the hour.
Was it challenging and developmentally progressive?
Sure…But whatevs. We were there for the craic.
So here’s the stuff that you probably ‘really’ want to know….
- You can totally get coffee on the way down to the kids area. And FYI, a bowl of chips is $5. Happy days.
- Do NOT try to access O’Riordan St via Gardeners Rd. It is a right turn across traffic with lights, but no turning arrow. It took at least 4 changes of lights for me to sneak through. Despite this, parking at that time was easy, and it was free for Sky Zone customers.
- The Little Leapers program is $10 per head for an hour; value for money? Totally!!! In fact, my kids were actually ready to go and miraculously, NO LEAVING TANTRUMS OCCURRED!
- I was totally jealous of the two 20 something dudes who were having an absolute wild time. Slam dunks, climbing, flips and all sorts; their whooping and hollering reminded me that this was a totally fun place for adults too, and I stared longingly at their wild abandon as I was popping drink bottles and accounting for shoes. Check out some of the stuff for the big kids.
So there you have it. A fantastic, affordable outing, that had them weeping for bed that night. And FYI; they both slept ALL night. Sure; I was awake at 4.45am checking on them, with no hope of getting back to sleep, but I will totally be back for more…if not just for the on trend orange socks and the pumping music.
