My husband has a running joke that our Wedding Day was the best day of ‘my’ life.
And he would actually be right.
It is ten years this October since we were married, and though the bumps in the road have certainly appeared along the way, we have done our best to fill them in as we go. I love knowing we are still desperate for a snuggle on the couch with each other every night, once the kids are asleep and the world calms down around us.
And again, in the words of Mr Romance, every tin has a lid.
Many of you who actually know us, know that we grew up in the same country town in South West Victoria, but we were far from High School sweethearts. I barely remember him at school before he left to go to Boarding School and anyway, I was soooooo much more mature being from the class above him. As life would transpire, we found our way back into each other’s lives many years later. It took many postcards, telephone box calls from remote countries, overseas travels (and back again), and sadly tragedy and loss to bring us together. That wedding day, as both my parents walked me down the aisle, I can still see his beaming smile as he stood at the altar waiting for me; and again, those of you who are lucky enough to know Pat, know that his huge grin and laughing eyes can light up a room.
But stop it. I’m gushing.
So; how could I show him how my life has changed so incredibly with him walking beside me?
Well, according to tradition, I’m supposed to give him something made from tin or aluminium, but in ten years, I have never managed to stick with that. I wanted something memorable, special and personal.
That is how I settled upon capturing the stars in the sky to commemorate the very date and location that we made our vows.
Only recently we realised that having one good wedding print hanging was enough. After the big day, if you are like us, we got massive prints made, framed and popped them wherever there was space. But I think we have arrived at the thinking that less is more, and one great wedding photo on display is enough. I love that soon I can put this beautiful print up, to show our love, but not bore everyone to tears. In fact, it already created discussion as I was getting it framed. The gorgeous lady who helped me, recognised our home town of Terang and told me it was where her Grandparents were from and that she had never met anyone from this small town of just under 2000 people. So whilst I feel quite lost looking at the depth of the universe and how we are but a mere pin prick, I loved that she grounded me with my love for my people and both of our beginnings.
Seriously.
What has gotten in to me?
I am just moosh today and writing this piece has certainly worked a little bit of magic; a true love bigger than all the stars in the sky.
He is going to be so embarrassed.
So let’s get to business…..
This gorgeous print was created for me by a company called Modern Map Art.
It uses software to create the actual night sky at a particular time and place.
Think of the possibilities.
Whilst I have gone down the Anniversary/Wedding lane, what about the days your children were born, an engagement, or any other significant celebration in your life?
The website is completely easy to use and I love packages that actually create your request visually as you plug your specific info in, allowing you to see exactly what you will get. It is an American company, so make sure you calculate your costs correctly. Despite this, I found once my print was confirmed, it was shipped really fast and the print quality was clear and precise.
So….
Husband….
What special and unique gift were you thinking of getting me for our 10 year anniversary?
No pressure, my love….

- I was lucky enough to be gifted this print for purposes of a review, but as always, I only write the truth and I absolutely LOVED this idea when they got in touch. It turned out even better than I imagined. Thank you to the team at Modern Map Art.
