THE NIGHT *MICHAEL JACKSON TOLD ME I WAS BEAUTIFUL: Legends In Concert (Melbourne)

When the husband and I finally escape the barracks for a date night out to see a show, I am often met with comments like, “It was good,” “fun” and the annoying drab classic, “nice”.

But last weekend we were both reeling from the incredible show we went to.

He has said it was “awesome,” “incredible” and he has been pulling out some ‘amazing‘ (yet questionable) dance moves ever since. (Think air guitar and yes…even the Moonwalk through the kitchen).😳😎 We were thrilled to be gifted these tickets, but hands down I (hand on my heart) LOVED it.

Legends In Concert is simply brilliant.

Just between you and I, this chick has still got it…we even got bumped to better seats at the interval. (Personally I think it’s because I had the best chair dancing moves and knew all the words to the songs. Also, the husband’s giant grin all night was most impressive).

Highlights were my rock star efforts at a few rounds of The Nutbush, and when MJ pointed out my husband and thanked him for his awesome crowd singing. I also believe he specifically caught my eye and said, “You’re beautiful.” Why thank you, Michael, you sweet, SWEET man.

Lowlights were my sore throat the next day from all my woohoo’ing and singing, and the incredibly sad realisation that Elvis truly has left the building.

I learnt that all those years listening to Mum playing Kenny Rogers on the record player meant that I surprisingly knew all the words to “Coward of the County.” I proudly belted out “The Gambler” and was transported back to being 19 again at my local country pub. I was eyeing off sexy Rod Stewart (hot damn did I miss his smokin’ heyday!) and was out of my seat for Cyndi Lauper’s, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
