REVIEWING THE PLAY N WRAP
Thrilled to have been gifted a new toy to play with and review this week, but all opinions are my own.
Tell
me a household with young children that does not throw around the term screen time (or something of the like)
and I call BS! The energy I waste trying to reconcile my feelings of guilt when
I allow my kids the TV/iPad versus my own personal sanity, is simply
exhausting. Often, I will admit to walking away; just to get that one more job
done, or sit down for some much needed ‘me’ time.
The
arrival of this warm weather, means I need to get these kids outside come hell
or high-water. That is when I saw how the Play
N Wrap could slot into my evil plans! Measuring 1.5m in diameter, it is a
double layered, fabric mat that comprises a concealed draw string…swallowing
all those little plastic creatures up in a sack with only a few, gentle tugs. No more
will I be crawling about on my hands and knees looking for the leopards head,
as I repeatedly scoop little plastic people and their friends into a scattering
of plastic tubs.

Yes;
normally it is seen as an inside aid; a great way of allowing the kids to play
wildly with those bazillion bits and pieces and then BOOM; string drawn and
away. But I wanted to give it a whirl outside. I wanted to introduce the
Smurfs, Octonauts, Duplo and the countless bits and bobs that have just
‘magically’ appeared in my life, to the great outdoors. OK…so many do look
like those sugar packed Kinder Surprises…and…you might be right…(forgive
me..I am weak to my knees by the time I make it to the supermarket cashier with
two kids, and they could have them for
breakfast, lunch and dinner so long as we all escape alive).

So,
I piled them all up (kids, toys & Play N Wrap) and after offering my kidney
to shut down the iPad, we got out amongst it. Have you seen one of these bad
boys in action? I had heard of them, but oh for the love of Einstein, it is
sheer brilliance! So simple, so obvious, so easy!

The
kids are loving it…and so am I.

It
is currently stowed away NEATLY in the lounge room without me breaking a sweat collecting
everything back up. But of course, in terms of my world, I was curious about
its ‘washability’ (is that a word? Should be?) Quite frankly, if I can’t throw
it in the washing machine – forget about it! Thankfully, it is made of pure,
cotton fabric; a blue corduroy underneath and a lovely red and white stripe
soft cotton fabric on top (I tipped it upside down as I was mildly embarrassed
that all the lint from my unvacuumed carpet would stick to it…ah the beauty
of reversible products!). But it comes up a treat after the machine wash – Amen
to that!

So
next time strangers comment on your daughter’s English, ‘Pepper Pig’ accent and
the screen time guilt creeps back in, do yourself a favour and get the kids
outside on the Play N Wrap.
